It’s no secret that I’m a true chocolate lover. But I choose my chocolate wisely. The right type of chocolate, in it’s raw unprocessed form, is a true superfood with many healing qualities.
Some benefits of unprocessed chocolate are:
1. Anti-oxidant power to boost longevity
2. Magnesium to calm the nervous system
3. Iron to build healthy blood cells and energy
When used properly, chocolate can be a great way to boost your energy and get you through that 3 o’clock slump.
In the recipe below, I have further enhanced the medicinal qualities of this healing beverage by using a raw cacao mix from Harmonic Arts with added ingredients like Chaga, Reishi, Lion’s Mane, and Cordycepts, which are medicinal mushrooms.
These types of medicinal mushrooms have some properties that are excellent for boosting the immune system, supporting your stress coping mechanisms, increasing energy, and longevity. They have been used for thousands of years and are worth trying out to increase your well being.
Because my body tends to be prone to adrenal fatigue (hello motherhood and owning your own business!!) I also use certain herbs to calm my nervous system and mind. I love using Holy Basil (also called Tulsi), which truly helps me to center and feel blissful throughout my busy days. I used a tea blend from Naked Teas Galore, with a combination of holy basil and rose as the base of my hot chocolate.
Try it out and let me know what you think!
