When your body is constantly under stress, from toxins (personal care, pesticides, environmental pollutants), food allergens, too much sugar, caffeine, and refined foods, exercise, and of course emotional stress from relationships, and work overload, the adrenal glands get overworked and you end up with chronic fatigue.
The adrenal glands need to be constantly supported by the right foods and stress relieving activities like yoga and meditation. The adrenal glands use B and C vitamins, minerals like magnesium, and healthy fats and protein to stay healthy and help your body adapt to stress.
What are the signs of adrenal fatigue?
My smoothie recipe below has minerals found in sea salt, healthy fats, like coconut, protein, and a good dose of vitamin C to help your body cope with stress and feel energized.
If you don’t have canned coconut milk, you can substitute 1.5 cups coconut beverage (in the fridge section of grocery store) for the canned coconut milk and water. I like to use the whole orange instead of juice because it contains the fibre to help slow down the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream, another essential for adrenal support!
Have this smoothie either in between meals for a snack or as part of your breakfast.
